My birth philosophy is rooted in freedom. As a doula/Birthkeeper my goal is to support fully informed and autonomous births. Birth usually unfolds best when left completely undisturbed. Birth is a sacred right of passage. Women supporting women in labor, birth, and postpartum is an ageless tradition across all cultures. I support women in making their own choices that feel intuitively right to them. I encourage women to connect deeply with their womb and let their own wisdom guide them.
When women choose to birth with a medical provider they should have 100% say in what does and doesn’t get done to them and their baby. That’s basic informed consent and informed refusal. Your choice to have medical interventions done or not done should be 100% respected and honored. Your choice to birth in a hospital, birth center, at home with a midwife, at home unassisted, at home with sovereign support, at home or in the woods by yourself should be 100% respected and honored. The choice to birth in the medical system and the choice to birth outside of the medical system hold equal value and are worthy of the same respect. Unassisted birth is a basic human right. It’s a basic birthright.
I am a birthworker. I’m here to speak my truth and support women in owning their own truths no matter how those evolve and change. I’m here to support women who choose to be unapologetically themselves as I am unapologetically myself (that’s also not for everyone and that’s ok!) I’m here to support mothers in making choices that feel intuitively right to them.
Our ancestors birthed in sovereignty for centuries. They birthed alone, they birthed with sisters and aunts, they birthed with village elders. They simply birthed. At home. They didn’t involve medical professionals because birth is a physiological, emotional, spiritual, hormonal process, not a medical condition that needs to be managed. Birth is the responsibility of each individual birthing person. It’s not something to take lightly. Nature isn’t always perfect. You have to be able to know what your own intuition is telling you. You have to bear the weight of your choices.
Your choices have to be true to you.
